Sometimes the planets really do align. I got a last minute call to do a gig backing Russian/Israeli master pianist- Ruslan Sirota. Working with my regular rhythm section (Barry Leach and Raphael Semmes), we backed Ruslan on a gig at The Fairview Inn in Jackson, Mississippi on January 9th, 2012. Amazing vocalists Lisa Palmer and Rick Coffey (a Chicago native, who spent some time living and performing in Israel, now currently residing in Atlanta) rounded out the cast. It was a performance at the request of Opher Aviran, who is the Israeli Consul General (and apparently a BIG music fan) honoring Governor Elect, Phil Bryant (… no comment ;). I managed to capture the evening via a USB jump drive plugged into the mixing desk (thanks Nat Duncan!!!).
